Accessibility statement
Description of the service offered
The online shop at franzis.de offers both physical and digital products as well as services from the publisher's portfolio. In addition, it features suitable offers from selected third-party providers.
Applicable legal requirements
The accessibility requirements are based on the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG). In particular, Section 14 BFSG in conjunction with Section 3 (1) and (2) BFSG and the ordinance on the BFSG to be issued in this regard are decisive.
Technical standards and guidelines
The technical measures used largely meet the EN 301 549 standard. In addition, the implementation is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 with conformance levels A and AA.
Shopping and concluding contracts in the online shop
The online shop is designed in such a way that the statutory requirements for an accessible user experience mentioned above are met as far as possible. Contracts can be concluded in the online shop without barriers. Users can research products and services, create shopping carts, place orders and complete payment transactions.
For questions or advice, an accessible customer service is available by email, telephone and via a contact form. Key information such as product descriptions, prices and delivery options can be accessed in understandable language and in a clearly structured form.
Accessibility in the online shop
Accessibility on franzis.de has largely been implemented in accordance with the standards mentioned above. For the most accessible user experience possible, we recommend using the Chrome or Safari browser. The options for accessible use are continuously reviewed and further developed.
The following options for accessible use of the online shop are essentially available.
- Operation of the online shop using the keyboard
- Visibility of focus indicators
- Readability of text elements with screen readers
- Individual adjustment of the font size
- Use of sufficient colour contrasts
- Images relating to individual products are provided with an image description (where maintained editorially)
- Pausing of videos
- No content with rapid image sequences
- Partial use of descriptive page titles and clear navigation structures
- Understandable explanation of input errors and provision of assistance
- Compatibility with all common browsers
- Use of semantic HTML structures and ARIA roles
- PDF documents are not yet consistently accessible.
- Integrated third-party plugins do not always meet the requirements of WCAG 2.1 AA.
